GEE at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg

20 Apr, 2015

The Aircraft Interiors Expo is one of the largest and most important tradeshows in the IFE&C calendar. The show boasts 149 unique airlines representatives, 500+ exhibitors from 26 different countries and over 9,000 attendees. This year it dazzled with a larger number of attendees, including airlines from around the world, and exhibitors.

GEE welcomed close to 100 airlines, partners and reporters at its booth in the IFE Zone. We drank close to 2,250 grams of coffee at our booth!

On Monday April 13th we were excited to attend the Aircraft Interiors PEX Conferences – a full day of presentations and panel discussions focused on the passenger experience.  The PEX conference is a great opportunity to educate attendees through insightful presentations, panel discussions and debates from a variety of airlines and vendors.

GEE participated in a live debate on the connected aircraft – using connectivity as a means to enhance an airline’s productivity and crew communications. Doug Murri, GEE’s Vice President of Operations (Connectivity), participated in the discussions which covered a variety of topics from enabling aircraft-to-aircraft communications to tracking aircraft through an airline’s connectivity service.

Robin Cole, VP of Marketing & Global Business Development at GEE, took part in a second debate regarding the future of inflight entertainment. Wireless IFE, early window content on wireless platforms, and the evolution of IFE content through advertising and sponsorship were some of the topics brought-up by members of the audience during this 40-minute panel discussion.

The PEX Conference painted an overall positive picture of the IFE&C landscape, and increased our appetite for the market innovations and announcements to come.

Getting ready to unveil GEE's new Global Ku Antenna

Nestled in the IFE Zone, for which we were the Silver Sponsor, the GEE booth towered over the hall with its newly-launched white and blue branding, and highlighting the company’s four key business groups: Connectivity, Content, Digital Media Solutions and Operations Data Solutions.

The highlight of Day One at AIX (Tuesday April 14th) was the unveiling of GEE’s new Global Ku Antenna, the only truly global Ku-band antenna in the market today. Together with our partners and co-developers of the antenna, QEST, Dave Davis, GEE’s CEO, unveiled this revolutionary technology to an audience of around 50 guests.

On Day Two (Wednesday April 15th), GEE enjoyed another very busy day of meetings with customers and partners, followed by a customer and partner appreciation event at the Bond Lounge in Hamburg. The cozy underground lounge and bar provided a welcoming and fun atmosphere for attendees who mingled, chatted and laughed off the day’s meetings and stress. With a turn out of about 90 guests in total, the event was a successful end to yet another busy day in Hamburg.

On Day Three (Thursday April 16th), meetings continued to run through to the end of what was a successful AIX 2015 tradeshow.

Thank you to all our customers, partners and friends in the IFE&C market for visiting us, sharing a coffee and an after-hours chat. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
